I was a studio art major in college but I never really did anything with that degree after graduation until I started my family. When my children were little, I hand painted home accent pieces and children’s furniture for their rooms and to give as gifts. Once they'd outgrown the need for step stools I started making things for myself. I made a hand painted necklace for myself in 2005 and soon after began selling them to friends. It's been an ongoing side gig until earlier this year when I quit my job to work on my jewelry full time. Everything is hand painted and assembled in my studio. For every necklace I make, I hand paint 2x as many beads than I need because I never know how it’s going to turn out.
